Rodney Surgical Procedures
Vascular surgery is a surgical subspecialty in which diseases of the vascular system, or arteries and veins, are managed by medical therapy, minimally-invasive catheter procedures, and surgical reconstruction.
The term commonly refers to the veins on the leg, although varicose veins can occur elsewhere. Veinshave pairs of leaflet valves to prevent blood from flowing backwards (retrograde flow or venous reflux). Non-surgical treatments include sclerotherapy, elastic stockings, leg elevation and exercise.
