Assoc. Prof. Jonathan Koea

Jonathan Koea (Ngati mutunga, Ngati tama) is a general surgeon working at Auckland, Mercy, and North Harbour Hospitals with a subspecialist interest in liver, biliary and pancreatic conditions.

He graduated from Auckland Medical School in 1989 and worked as a house surgeon and registrar in Auckland, Hamilton and Hawkes Bay before undertaking post graduate training at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre in New York.

He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Auckland and Head of the Hepato-pancreatico-biliary/Upper Gastrointestinal Unit at Auckland Hospital.

Jonathan has been seeing patients from the Warkworth/Mahurangi area as a visiting surgeon for 5 years and owns a home on Kawau Island where he is a trustee of the Kawau Emergency Response Trust.
