Rodney Surgical Centre - The Centre for Health in the Heart of Rodney

The skin@rsc team

Patients who are referred to skin@rsc can be assured regardless of who they first see that they will recieve cost effective and optimal treatment from the most appropriate person. We can do this because we work as a team.

Dr Andrew MacGill: GP surgeon/dermoscopist

Andrew is a GP who has undergone extensive additional training in the diagnosis and management of skin cancer. He is an affiliated provider for Southern Cross. He uses dermoscopy to assess all skin lesions. Dermoscopy reduces the amount of unnecessary surgery. Mapping moles with dermoscopy is another tool used at Skin@rsc which is also proven to minimise unnecessary surgery. Andrew runs twice weekly skin cancer clinics which provide a first port of call for patients to discuss concerns. In most situations patients are able to be reassured treatment isn't required. When treatment is required Andrew can discuss the various options available. Options will include management with Andrew, one of the team or referral to the public system. For those with limited funds Skin@rsc can help facilitate charitable funding from Northlink (formerly known as The Rodney and North Harbour Health Trust)
